As a Graphic Designer, you will work on a variety of digital visual material across Brightwave’s e-learning projects. This will include working on animations and on individual asset design.

In most cases, you will collaborate closely with a Senior Graphic Designer and an Instructional Designer to ensure that the finished course follows the ‘look and feel’ that is set out in the Art Direction.


  • To ensure that all visual elements and content in the course follow the visual tone, appearance, functionality and overall aesthetic created in the Art Direction and adhere to the guiding principles of graphic design, such as alignment, spacing and balance.
  • To have a clear understanding of a clients’ brand values, guidelines and briefs and to ensure that all work complies with these guidelines.
  • To demonstrate a full understanding of the technical specification for each project and to ensure that all finished work complies with these guidelines e.g. screen resolution, flash player version, page weights etc.
  • To estimate accurately the expected effort required to complete a piece of work.
  • To ensure work is accurate and completed on time and with estimated effort even when deadlines are challenging.
  • To constantly seek to increase and develop your own personal skill set and stay up-to-date with current developments in visual design, e-learning and technologies.
  • To share and communicate good practice and ideas.


  • Create and modify a variety of digital material using to required specifications and to the highest standards.
  • To source visual assets from online library resources.
  • Work closely with the client, Lead Instructional Designer and Lead Developers throughout
    the project lifespan.
  • To interpret written scripts/detailed design specifications and to select/create/modify graphical assets appropriately.

Skills and attributes

  • A professional, dynamic and positive attitude.
  • A keen eye for quality and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Good inter-personal skills so that you can work effectively with members of the Brightwave team and with our clients.
  • Have a high level of proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator and Flash.
  • Proficient in HTML, XML and other web technologies
  • Experience of designing for print is desirable
  • Photography and video skills are desirable
  • An understanding of User-Experience and User-Centred Design principles.

Other Requirements

Because of the need to work collaboratively and flexibly with colleagues it is a requirement of this role to work onsite in the office.


Likely to be educated to degree or HND level in relevant discipline or to have worked for a minimum of 1 year in a similar role.
